| Eternals The world of Empire touches six other planes of existence. These are home to powerful magical entities called Eternals who are interested in the human world. Players can meet the Eternals in the Hall of Worlds, and negotiate and deal with them there.
The Eternals are powerful but they are not gods. Their power is themed. Their role in the game is to make the game world feel more magical and fantastic; to provide dramatic non-combat moments for players by interaction in the Hall of Worlds; and to act as a source of plot through their machinations. Wizards will bargain and deal with the Eternals, and their actions may well be significant in the Conclave.

| OK.. some more info and speculation on the Eternals.
From what we've been told, it seems that each Eternal is connected to a lineage/bloodline. Since we've already been told that there are 5 lineages.. it seems fair to assume that there are 5 Eternals.
So now we know that the Eternals are not in any way connected to the nations then there must be another purpose to the Eternals being part of the game. The released information implies that the Eternals are somehow connected to wizards/The Conclave...
We've heard that the Eternals themes may be seasonal... for example one represents Winter.. and has a cold & ruthless personality. (We've also heard that one looks like a Cthulhu-type thing with a squidface of tentacles.. but I'd take that idea with a little more cynicism.). I'm thinking therefore that each of the Eternals is directly tied to one form of ritual magic.. since these have been describes as winter-magic, summer-magic etc...
The flaw in all this logic of course is the line about 'six other planes of existance'.. which either means we're an Eternal down or there's one we won't know about. Also... there are only 4 seasons.. so what is the last of 5 eternals/ritual magics?

| Since there are 6 planes, I suspect the 5 lineages thing may have been a typo.
As for what the final two planes of existence represent, if the other four are the seasons then the notable thing about the planes is that they represent major natural cycles in the world. The obvious other major natural cycle in the world is the day/night cycle, so the final two planes might be day/night, dusk/dawn, sun/moon or other elements thereof.
If this is the case, and if there are only 5 lineages, then it's possible there's one lineage representing both sides of the day/night or sun/moon cycle.

| I hope there are only 5 Lineages out of 6 Eternals because the Eternal of Winter is not biologically compatable*. Why? Too many Stark jokes...
(*assuming that a Lineage begins from nookie, rather than being a magical expression of a pact of some kind).

| 6 Planes of Existance, 6 eternals.
Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring, The Material World, Spirit?
I think if every plane gets an eternal, why not the Material World?

| The key I think is there are six other planes of existance... so that's the material plane + 6 others... | |

| One possible hint of a lineage I've spotted. If you watch the latest Video blog for Empire.. there is a scene where the camera pans over a PC screen showing some of the artwork PD are using.. there is a lineage marked 'Demon' shown if you watch carefully.
No idea is this is going to be a real eternal, or just some ideas from the art department, but appearance was of silver skin, spiky and with horns. Another in the same video is named 'Fey' although the picture accompanying this isn't clear enough to give any hints about that one's appearance.

| I have reason to believe that the final two Realms are Night and Day. | |

| Little more on magic. The 6 forms of magic are confirmed as seasonal. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Night, Day. There is to be a 6 eternals and 6 lineages, each attached to a form of magic. Or rather each form of magic and lineage to an Eternal.
As for specific lineages, I've heard a little of three of them.
The Winter Eternal goes by the working title of Demon, although that's now changed to something I can't remember (not sure I could even pronounce). Appearance was white skinned, spiky with horns. Personality-wise this is cold, calculating, ruthless, emotionless.
The Summer Eternal's working title was Fey... but we're not talking fairies in the garden type. It was described to me more like a 'Changling'.
The Day Eternal's name I can't remember, but it's a Fish-Man! Reasoning between linking day & a water creature was that 'the dawn sun rises over the ocean'. One thing I've heard for this one is it has a minimum phys-rep requirement, unlike the others which are hinted as optional traits.. for this one you MUST have prothetic gills. Make up ones won't be sufficient.
Also.. if we have an elemental/seasonal connection.. then the good old tried & trusted earth/air/water/fire/light/dark thing comes back into focus for magic styles..

| The other three lineages are apparently something along the lines of:
Spring - Briars. Bark-like skin, etc, so tree-people I guess. Winter or Autumn - Draugr. Rather corpse-like in appearance, I heard them described as ghoulish? Night - Naga. Snake people presumably.
The Day fishmen are the Merrow, the Summer fey are the Changelings, the demon line I thought were Autumn rather than Winter but regardless, they're called Cambions.

| hmm.. further speculation... but I wonder if having a particular eternal's blood aids with casting of certain magics? say.. a Naga-blooded mage being better at Night magic... and maybe hindered in Day magic?

| Lineage has no mechanical effects, same as nation choice. They are deliberately designed as choices you can make about your character without impacting the mechanics of nation choice. | |
